Mary Ellen Guiney is 30 years of age. She has a biochemistry degree from the National University of Galway, Ireland where she also rowed at home and internationally and won the All Ireland Championships in a crew boat. From there she did a Finance masters in management at Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, Dublin. This then took her to London where she became employed by the Korean company Samsung Electronics in their treasury department. She then got offered a job for JP Morgan to work in their liquidity risk team, where one of her main roles was to analyse the Balance Sheet for the firm. Always eager to pursue her passion for Nutrition she pursued an online masters at University while she cared for her mother who had cancer at the time. Mary continued to follow her dream and continued to train for triathlons and completed her first one at the Dublin City Triathlon in August 2015 (she is still training and keen to do the half iron man this year). She had a blip of mental health (known as psychosis) in August 2012 and  felt connected on a spiritual level with the Vietnamese. One year later, she took a break from caring for her mother and travelled to Thailand in 2013 and was again diagnosed with schizophrenia. On both occassions she was treated with western medicine antipsychotics – Haloperidol, Olanzapine and Abilify. In both instances she gained 20 lbs of fat and struggled through numerous dieting tactics to lose the weight. Eventually she threw herself back into intense exercise and triathlons and built up a huge fitness regime and got back into shape while eating a massive 3,000kcal a day. Last Christmas, 2015, she took on too many chores for her family and got sleep deprived as she was not putting herself first and was again admitted to hospital and diagnosed with bipolar. Mary Ellen has experience in mental health since August 2012 and knows all about cognitive behavioural therpay and the treatments used to treat mental health through diet, exercise and positive thinking. She has read alot of books and discovered the WRAP approach which is highly promoted by Mary Ellen Copeland in the States. The aim of this website is to promote education and positive thinking by collaborating the intelligence of both the Eastern and Western world and to promote positive behaviour and talk openly about mental health which is relatively taboo in Ireland. Mary Ellen knows alot about grey matter and how the subconscious mind works. Western medicine seems to know alot about the conscious mind which makes up no more than 5% of the brains functioning, however very little is known about the subconscious as alot of psychiatrists try to treat mental health through drug induced therapy which causes depression in alot of children and adults.

Mary Ellen’s second thesis is entitled “Irrational Exuberance: A case study of investor sentiments driving market Euphoria” and it explores the psychology of booms and busts and how on a global scale bubbles keep occurring due to greed and inequality. It explores how manias started with tulip mania in the 1600s and how housing bubbles seem to occur every 8 years or so due to media hype which over estimates the market value of assets. Her third thesis is called “Vietnamese Voices” and is in the process of being completed and it explores the psychology around eating behaviour and mental health and will discuss the 4 medications which Mary was administered since 2012.
