    Mary Ellen Guiney is 30 years of age. She has a biochemistry degree from the National University of Galway, Ireland where she also rowed at home and internationally and won the All Ireland Championships in a crew boat.

    Resistance Training

    In order to compete at a competitive level for any sport it is recommended to do resistance training at least twice per week. Sarcopenia or muscle wasting begins after the age of 30 so it is even more important to build and maintain muscle mass from this age onward. A mixture of both compound exercises, which target numerous muscle groups and isolation exercises are recommended for both the upper and lower body to get an overall body workout. These exercises are completed with the addition of strength and mobility and flexibility moves.
